Stanwood Youth Cheerleading

The goal of our cheer program is to learn age and skill level appropriate cheerleading fundamentals for children ages 5 to 14, to support our Stanwood Youth Football Spartans and to have FUN! Registration for each child is $250, which includes uniform, accessories, and camp fees. There are several payment options acceptable. Scholarships may be available that will be determined based on need. Please email [email protected] for more details.

We will kick off our 2020 season with a 3-day cheer camp July 17th-19th.

Our first practice is July 28th at Stanwood Middle School from 5:30pm-7:30pm. We will offer practices 2-3 days per week, at the coach's discretion. Cheerleaders should make every attempt to attend as many practices as possible during the summer, as what they learn in July and August will build the foundation on which the remainder of the season will be built. This is when we learn the basics of arm motions, jumps, stunting, sideline cheers, and the halftime routine.

Once the school year starts, cheerleaders are encouraged to attend as many practices as possible, but are only required to attend 1 per week if they have other commitments. This will allow our cheerleaders to simultaneously participate in Fall sports.

Once the season begins, we will cheer every Saturday at Stanwood Youth Football games whether they are home and away (at coach's discretion), within the NCYFL league. We cheer RAIN OR SHINE, so please plan accordingly.

Your coaches are excited and can’t wait to meet you!

GO SPARTANS!!!

The goal of our cheer program is to learn age and skill level appropriate cheerleading fundamentals, to support our Ellington Roadrunners football team, and to have fun!  Safety is our first priority, and your coach will be CPR & First Aid certified, a member of the NYSCA, trained in concussion prevention, and safety certified through the AACCA.

Our first practice is on Monday, July 28.  We practice Mon-Thurs each week during the summer, and then reduce to a shortened practice schedule once school begins at the coach’s discretion.  Our time during August is a critical learning period, and we ask that every attempt is made to be at each practice.  This is where we learn the basics of arm motions, jumps, stunting, sideline cheers, and the halftime routine.  It is a lot to learn in a short period of time, so expect to see a little something new from you cheerleader each day.  Of course, practice at home is what makes this all possible, so we ask that you encourage them to stretch and practice often.

Once the season begins, we cheer weekly at Roadrunners football games home and away, within the NCFL league.  The games are generally on Sundays with the occasional Saturday game.  We cheer rain or shine, so please plan accordingly.  We participate in the NCFL cheer competition in late Oct/early Nov, which we prepare for throughout the season. This is an event that puts the spotlight specifically on the cheerleaders, and is an amazing opportunity to show off everything we learn throughout the season.  Schedules permitting, we sometimes participate in other competitions in our area.  More information on competitions will be provided from your coach.

Your coaches are excited and can’t wait to meet you!  Please join us at our registration/orientation event in May to learn more.
